When children are at risk of ending up on their own, because of the circumstances facing their families, we help to strengthen families to prevent children from being separated.
Pamela’s story
Pamela (pictured above with her children) has four children and is bringing them up on her own in Georgetown, Guyana. She was struggling to cope and often behaved violently towards her children.
‘Before, I was so stressed I used to beat my children. But EveryChild’s parenting classes have made me understand that beating is not the answer.’ Pamela
Now, with EveryChild’s help, the children benefit from home visits by our childcare counsellors and Pamela regularly attends our parenting classes. She now has the confidence to communicate more effectively with them without resorting to violence, ensuring that they remain together as a family.
